Major Duties

  • Serves as Telecommunication Specialist responsible for short and long range communications planning, programming, coordinating and project implementation of a variety of telecommunications systems.
  • Operates and maintains SATCOM and terrestrial transport Information Technologies through activations and deactivations, operational analysis, technical testing and troubleshooting.
  • Provides instruction, mentors and coaches service members and Civilians on process, policies and technologies across the multiple functional domains.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert in support of operations and maintenance of Defense Information Systems Network core equipment, DISN Service Delivery Providers, and Regional Hub Node baseband assets.
  • Performs troubleshooting through application of theory involving flow of satellite and baseband systems providing data, voice and video.
  • Performs maintenance, provides technical direction and performs QA/QC involving highly complex and technical issues, and personnel located in different functional areas and organizations at various echelons.
  • Engineers site unique drawings for use in troubleshooting and operations.
  • Provides site certification and developmental training on all systems, equipment and services and procedures involving highly complex and technical training.

Specialized experience would be demonstrated by: enhancing the efficiency of various digital or strategic data systems and networks; installing and repairing various communication systems and satellite equipment; and operating various types of communication equipment i.e., long haul communication circuits/systems/networks, and cryptographic equipment.
